Records and alongside Rupert Parkes, better known as Photek. In his late teen's Simon was a resident DJ for Pam's House & Harmony warming up dance floors in the east of England with deeper house grooves. Simon has run a number of night club promotions including Louche, a monthly night that ran for over 2 years, featuring guests like Conan Liquid People. Simon also ran Soul Movement, a night playing host to diverse guests such as Flytronix (Far Out records) & Chrissy T (Garage City / Z records). In 2003 Simon toured Australia taking in clubs and radio in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well as a dates in Amsterdam and Germany. Simon is now a resident DJ for Soul City in London (now in its 4th year) providing a full spectrum of soul, boogie, broken beats and house to an intimate crowd of heads alongside a top flight roster of guests that have included Karizma, Joey Negro, Billy Davidson, DJ Spen, Al Kent, Bobby & Steve, Neil Pierce, Aaron Ross, Jeremy Newall, Chrissy T, Ricky Morrison, Sir Piers and more!
The production career of Marcus Harris began 10 years ago, as the inevitable result of a childhood fascination with synths, drum machines and sampling. After a teenage stint playing what became known as Drum and Bass, the plunge was taken, and basic studio equipment was purchased. Drawing on his influences (King Tubby, John Coltrane, Al Green, Cybotron and 4 Hero, to name but a few), he started producing music obsessively, with many long nights spent staring into a tiny Atari monitor using a copy of Cubase donated to him by Rupert Parkes, and days spent hanging out in the seminal record shops 'Red Eye' and 'Essential Selection', the latter being where Marcus met future production partner Simon Finnegan.
As well as producing music, Simon and Marcus have both been involved in radio broadcasting for more than half a decade. Starting out on Ipswich Community Radio, one of the U.K.'s longest established public access / internet stations, you can now catch Si Finnegan representing the Tone Control sound on the weekly Soul City show, every Thursday night on www.pushfm.com from 10pm - 12am... Keepin it Soulful in the City!
